I also did the engagement photo session as well. Monique had made the engagement photos much anticipated by announcing her photo shoot on Facebook. As you can image, all the family and friends were anxious to see them.

I, however, felt that the images were EXTREMELY special and I wanted to premiere the images during their reception. The couple agreed and last night was the first time anyone had seen the presentation. The guests really enjoyed it.

Your wedding only lasts one day, but you’ll want to hold onto the pictures forever. Unfortunately, statistics show that many brides take big risks with their memories…by simply not knowing what to look for. To help you select a photographer who will make your wedding story one-of-a-kind, try these suggestions:

• Interview several photographers. Ask questions about their styles. Most wedding photographers offer either traditional, posed portraits or a candid photojournalism style. Some offer a combination. You should also ask if the photographer specializes in black and white or color photography.
• Look at samples. Ask to see albums that show wedding coverage from start to finish. This will give you an idea of both the style and quality each photographer provides.

It is a light meter — a Sekonic L-358 light meter to be precise. We use it to measure light intensity so that we can sculpt the lighting on our set and accurately set our camera to take well exposed pictures.

“But I bought a $500 camera and take good pictures all the time!  I don’t need no dang light meter!”  We know, and for the most part, you will continue to have success. There are limits, however.

One of the primary reasons we use it because we often employ multiple lights to illuminate  our subject/scene.  We may have a light for the face, a light for the hair, a lower intensity light for the whole body, and another light on the background. All of the lights are not set to the same intensity (otherwise every picture would look like your driver’s license). The light meter tells us whether the face is as bright as the rest of the body or whether the background is exactly half (1/2)  as bright as the foreground. We call these  “formulas”, and we have a secret book of lighting formulas stored in the same vault as the Coca-Cola recipe.

As promised, here is a behind the scenes video of one of our recent glamour photography clients. It was great to see the transformation into demur office worker to sexy model in a matter of minutes. We were all very pleased with the final images.
Valentines Day is fast approaching, Nuaje Visions will be holding our annual V-Day Glamour Photography Specials. This year, we are thinking about shooting at two hotel locations around the Baltimore area and including hair and makeup in an all-inclusive, cost-effetive package deal. Meet Frankie-Chanel & Reece. The mother of this adorable duo wanted to capture some special holiday images to send to relatives and friends. We came out to their house and photographed the children in the familiar surrounding of their own home.   No crowded malls. No boring backdrops. No cookie-cutter poses.

Frankie & Reece were a pleasure to work with. They laughed at enough of our corny jokes to allow us to capture some wonderful smiles and a memorable snapshot of  their youth.

…and that’s what it’s all about.

Fashionable Nevers

We had the great fortune to shoot with model/actress Miss Nyssa Nevers. It was an incredibly productive shoot because Nyssa is truly a professional who was able to coordinate her own hair, makeup, and wardrobe, thus leaving us to concentrate on what we do best…taking the pictures. We shot 4 different motifs in about 3 hours including one paying homage to Nyssa’s  favorite author Chuck Palahniuk Pygmy (author of Fight Club which went on to be a box office hit staring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton).

Now, Nyssa liked us so much that she let us shoot in what we refer to as The Room of Pleasures. We teased part of the shoot  in the video. You’ll have to tune back in to see what we created in that room. Enjoy.

Meet Ms. Smith. Ms. Smith was bored and wanted to do something different, and dare we say…edgy. We got the call, and we offered her one of Nuaje’s more popular glamour photography packages.
